This dense, young Cabernet was grown in select blocks of the Beckstoffer family’s Las Piedras Vineyard climbing the base of a slope on the western edge of St. Helena. Opaquely purple, the wine has huge, complex aromatics with dark fruit notes of blackberry and plum bolstered by finely integrated oak spice. With air, dark caramel and whiffs of smoke emerge on the nose along with hints of classic lead pencil. The powerful core of supple tannins at the heart of the wine gives it massive structure seamlessly wrapped in the plush flesh of concentrated, velvety ripeness. Black berries and plum extend deep into the long, silky finish with just a slight grip of astringency appropriate for a richly extracted, powerhouse young Napa Valley red built to age beautifully.
