WINEMAKING: The grapes for this wine were farmed and picked on a row-by-row basis to ensure optimal ripeness. The fruit was then hand sorted and whole berry fermented in small lots. Aged in barrel for 22 months, this wine was neither fined nor filtered prior to bottling.
TASTING NOTES: This is a plump, young Napa Valley Cabernet that through acute attention in the vineyard, careful craftsmanship in the winery and meticulous assembly in the finishing has avoided the pitfalls of the difficult Napa vintage year of 2011. There is no hint of that cool, damp summer in the big, warm aroma of dark berries with smoky overtones. Its dark purple color forecasts the density of structure with plush, round tannins extracted from nicely ripened fruit. Dark berries and plums, a bit of smoke and spice from the best French oak and an overall brooding richness of deep, dark flavors extend from entry to the long finish.
